Sad, Sparkly & Country-Tinged: Kesha’s New Tracks Reviewed

If you’re like me — early 20s, grew up on Tumblr inspo boards, glitter on your cheeks, and galaxy sunglasses — then you probably lived and breathed Kesha at 13. She was the soundtrack to our chaotic sleepovers, heartbreaks we hadn’t experienced yet, and dreams of being glitter-drenched party icons. Our tastes evolve, but Kesha has stuck around, becoming a nostalgic constant for me and my friends.

So when I heard she had a full new album on the way, I was thrilled.

If you’ve somehow been living under a rock for the past twenty years, here’s a quick rundown: Kesha broke out in 2009 with her unapologetically wild, glitter-bombed debut Animal, featuring hits like Tik Tok, Your Love Is My Drug, and Take It Off. She’s since released multiple albums, fought industry battles, and evolved her sound — and now she’s gearing up to drop a brand new album, fittingly titled “.” (yes, it’s literally a period) coming this July. And lucky for us, she’s already released three tracks to tease what’s coming.

Let’s talk about them:

“Joyride”Absolute brat energy.
This one comes in hot with a fun, vogue-inspired beat and lyrics that scream freedom and Mean Girls energy. It gave me a little Vroom Vroom by Charli XCX vibe, and I’m so here for it. Definitely a club banger, the kind you’d catch blasting at Numbers Cabaret while you’re living your best messy, glitter-drenched life.

“Yippie-Ki-Yay”My personal fave.
Okay, not just because I’m deep in my country phase (shoutout to Dollarama for sponsoring my emo cowboy hat — pics at @rina.sweettea, and yes, if @nariwired hits 300 followers I’ll drop a tutorial). But because this track is a pop-country banger done right. It’s fresh, playful, and feels like something you’d blast on a summer sunset drive in a convertible headed straight for The Yale Saloon. It’s got that boom-bap country beat with girly, cheeky lyrics and a modern twist.

“Delusional”A softer, sharper side of Kesha.
This one’s heartbreak anthems 101, but with a confident twist. It’s got that “I’m better off without you” energy, sleek production, and lyrics that sting just enough to make you smirk. Less glitter cannons, more reclaiming your peace — and it suits her so well.

So far, so good!
I’m so excited for the full album drop. Kesha’s proving once again she can shapeshift through eras while keeping that unfiltered, unapologetic core. If you’re as hyped as I am, keep an eye out this July.

And if you’re into live gig photos, chaotic artist moments, and the occasional Emo Cowboy content — follow me at @nariwired. Who knows, I might actually post that tutorial.
